पं. जवाहरलाल नेहरू चिकित्सा महाविद्यालय एवं डॉ. भीमराव अम्बेडकर स्मृति चिकित्सालय स्थित एडवांस कार्डियक इंस्टीट्यूट (एसीआई) अब न केवल छत्तीसगढ़ बल्कि पड़ोसी राज्यों के मरीजों के लिए भी जीवनदाता बनता जा रहा है। हाल ही में एसीआई के कार्डियोलॉजी विभाग में मध्यप्रदेश निवासी 60 वर्षीय मरीज के हृदय की 100% ब्लॉक हो चुकी चार नसों की सफल एंजियोप्लास्टी की गई।
मरीज के परिजनों के अनुसार, मरीज लंबे समय से दवाओं के सहारे जीवन जी रहे थे। मध्यप्रदेश के कई बड़े अस्पतालों ने एंजियोप्लास्टी करने से मना कर दिया था। इस बीच उनके एक करीबी रिश्तेदार से पता चला कि एसीआई में कुछ वर्ष पूर्व एक मरीज के जटिल हृदय रोग का सफल उपचार किया गया है। इसी भरोसे के साथ वे रायपुर पहुँचे। स्वयं मरीज अपना अनुभव बताते हुए कहते हैं कि जब कई बड़े अस्पतालों के डॉक्टरों ने कह दिया था कि उनके यहाँ इलाज संभव नहीं है तो एसीआई बड़ी उम्मीद लेकर आया था। डॉक्टर से हमने कह भी दिया था कि जितना भी रिस्क हो, आप इलाज़ की तैयारी कीजिये, मैं उसके लिए मानसिक रूप से पूरी तरह तैयार हूँ। अंततः यहाँ के डॉक्टरों ने मुझे नया जीवनदान दिया।
कार्डियोलॉजी विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. स्मित श्रीवास्तव के नेतृत्व में हुई इस प्रक्रिया में राइट फीमोरल एंजियोप्लास्टी के जरिए मरीज की ब्लॉक नसों को खोला गया। फिलहाल मरीज पूरी तरह स्वस्थ हैं और जल्द ही उन्हें डिस्चार्ज कर दिया जाएगा।
डॉ. श्रीवास्तव ने बताया कि पाँच वर्ष पूर्व भी मध्यप्रदेश से आए एक मरीज की सफल लेजर एंजियोप्लास्टी की गई थी। इस बार भी कठोर ब्लॉकेज को देखते हुए लेजर की तैयारी की गई थी, किंतु सौभाग्य से सामान्य एंजियोप्लास्टी से ही सफल परिणाम मिल गये। डीन डॉ. विवेक चौधरी ने मरीज की स्थिति को देखते हुए विभाग को अतिशीघ्र एंजियोप्लास्टी करने के निर्देश दिये।
