Vocational education paves the way for self-reliance

-Jabalpur’s student Sanskar Lodhi Pratham more than 100 students displayed their professional skills in state level skill exhibition, winners received cash prizes and gifts of exposure visit

In the state level skill exhibition organized under STARS project by Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (Secondary Education), the commercial model “Emergency Alert Tracking Device” of Sanskar Lodhi, a class 11 student of Government Excellence School, Jabalpur, received the first prize. Sanskar received a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a certificate and an exposure visit as the state level first prize under the STARS project.

The exhibition organized at Government Subhash Excellence School, Bhopal was inaugurated today by Commissioner of Public Education, Smt. Shilpa Gupta and Director State Education Center, Shri Harjinder Singh. While observing the vocational skill models displayed by the students, Commissioner of Public Education, Smt. Shilpa Gupta said that vocational education paves the way for self-reliance. In the context of National Education Policy 2020, the School Education Department is continuously making efforts to prepare students for global leadership. Vocational education in the STARS project and today’s exhibition is a part of this series. The second prize of Rs 15,000 in the exhibition was given to Samyak Jain, a class 12 student of Government Excellence School, Kesli, Sagar. Samyak had displayed a commercial model of life rescue boat. Harsh Agarwal, a class 11 student of Government Excellence School, Damoh, stood third. As the third prize, Harsh received prize money of Rs 10,000 for the future electric vehicle model.

For best performance in the exhibition, Rahul Vishwakarma of Government High School, Chhatarpur was given Rs. 7000 as prize money and Chandrapal Patel of Government High School, Hinota, Damoh was given Rs. 5000 as prize money for the fourth place. Apart from this, consolation prizes were given to Ayush Gupta of PM Shri Government High School, Mohgaon, Jabalpur, Vaibhav Rahangdale of Government High School, Charegaon, Balaghat, Dhruv Yadav of Government High School, Dhurwar, Shahdol, Armaan Yadav of Government CM Rise School, Ghansaur, Seoni and Devraj Raghuvanshi, student of Government CM Rise School, Udaypura, Raisen. Each student was given Rs. 2100 as prize money.

The School Education Department is running new vocational education in 2383 schools of the state at the rate of 2 trades per school. Under this, teaching and training of 30 job roles is being provided in 14 trades such as IT-IT.E.S., Private Security, Agriculture, Apparel, Banking and Finance Services, Retail, Health Care, Electronics and Hardware, Beauty and Wellness, Plumbing, Automotive, Tourism and Hospitality, Physical Education and Media and Entertainment etc. About 25,000 students from 1790 government higher secondary schools participated in the school level skill exhibitions. Out of which, the first prize winning students of each school participated in the district level exhibition. A total of 104 students participated in the exhibition organized at the state level, including 2 winning students each from 52 districts of the state. All the participants who came to the State Skill Exhibition and the top 3 students in the merit list of all the trades being conducted, teachers, state, division and district officials will be taken on a 5-day skill exposure visit outside the state. In the closing session, Director Public Education Mr. D.S. Kushwaha honored the winning students and their guiding teachers.
