Bhopal: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah said that Bharat Ratna Nanaji Deshmukh, a staunch nationalist thinker, was Ajatashatru. He suffered many hardships during the Emergency period to protect democracy and played an important role in the work he did in the national interest in the then circumstances, due to which he was given the title of Rashtra Rishi. He was a national servant in the true sense. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gave true respect to the life and work of Nanaji Deshmukh by giving him Bharat Ratna.
Union Home Minister Mr. Shah was addressing the tribute ceremony on the occasion of the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Nanaji Deshmukh in Chitrakoot of Satna district on Thursday. This ceremony was organized at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shodh Sansthan on the occasion of the 15th death anniversary of Nanaji Deshmukh. On this occasion, Union Home Minister Mr. Shah and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the renovated Ram Darshan and the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay by pressing the remote button. On this occasion, Union Home Minister Mr. Shah also honored the sculptors. A huge feast was also organized on the occasion of the tribute ceremony of Nanaji. On the occasion of the 15th death anniversary of Nanaji, three special programs were organized simultaneously in Chitrakoot, his workplace. These include the tribute ceremony of Nanaji, the statue of Pandit Deendayal ji and the inauguration of Ram Darshan.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah paid homage to Lord Kamta Nath by remembering the great personality of Nanaji. Union Minister Shri Shah said that Nanaji was born in Maharashtra, he joined the Sangh and made Uttar Pradesh his area of work. Nanaji played an important role in taking the Jan Sangh to the block level. Home Minister Shri Shah said that even while being in politics, Nanaji was a man without enemies. He had no opponents in this area. This is very rare in the life of a politician.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah said that apart from politics, Nanaji did remarkable work in many fields including social service. Nanaji took a pledge in his life to bring Integral Humanism to the ground. He kept removing evil from the society, but never allowed any evil to reach him. His ideals will remain an ideal for politicians for a century. Union Minister Shri Shah said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Nanaji Deshmukh were born in almost the same period. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya linked India’s development to the welfare of the last person in the line. At one time, people thought it impossible how the idea of Integral Humanism would come to the ground, but Nanaji laid the foundation of Antyodaya with the idea of upliftment of Gramodaya from Chitrakoot.
Union Home Minister Mr. Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Modi, 60 crore families of the country are getting many facilities like their own houses, clean drinking water, cooking gas and free treatment. In reference to the views of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, Mr. Shah said that work is being done to turn every village in Madhya Pradesh into Gokul. He said that along with Indianness, these works have been implemented in accordance with Nanaji’s ideas on how to establish our agriculture, education and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in the world. He said that no matter how much the country develops, the heritage should be carried along.
Union Home Minister Mr. Shah said that Nanaji was a skilled organizer. When emergency was imposed in the country, people on a large scale wanted to save democracy. During this period, many movements took place and Jan Sangh emerged. Nanaji Deshmukh also merged parties by giving priority to the spirit of nation first. Union Home Minister Mr. Shah said that former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had given the title of Rashtra Rishi to Nanaji Deshmukh. Prime Minister Mr. Modi did the work of giving Bharat Ratna to Nanaji Deshmukh. Nanaji set an example by distancing himself from active politics at the age of 60.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah said that Nanaji’s contribution in the establishment of Saraswati Shishu Mandir across the country cannot be forgotten. Similarly, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay gave a complete philosophy of development of the nation, society and the individual. The sapling of the spirit of national service planted by Nanaji Deshmukh as well as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee has today become a huge banyan tree.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav thanked all the guests present here including Union Home Minister Mr. Shah at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Shodh Sansthan in Chitrakoot. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that it was a pleasant coincidence that he met Nanaji. Nanaji’s presence was like a source of inspiration for all of us. When former Prime Minister Morarji Bhai Desai invited him to join his cabinet, Nanaji politely refused. Nanaji had envisioned self-reliance in villages. He said that Nanaji worked to bring alive the pilgrimage places by involving artists. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Mr. Modi’s government has honored a great man like Nanaji Deshmukh in the true sense by awarding him Bharat Ratna.
In the program, the narrator Pujya Murari Bapu recalled the time spent with Nanaji. He said that Nanaji had first shown Ram Darshan in Chitrakoot and today it is being given a new form. Today is the day to pay tribute to the national sage Nanaji. Nanaji not only gave Ram Darshan with Ram Katha, but also gave us Gram Darshan. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay has found a way to reach the last person through integral consciousness. Nanaji lived his life like a saint. Pujya Bapu, citing the example of Ramcharit Manas, threw light on the concept of Ram Rajya. He said that when Lord Shri Ram had told his brother Bharat 4 things for Ram Rajya. First Sadhu opinion, second Lok opinion, third political opinion and fourth Sanatan Vedic opinion. He said that all these four things were present in Nanaji’s life.
Pujya Achalanand Ji Maharaj, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing Smt. Pratima Bagri, Khajuraho MP Shri V.D. Sharma, Satna MP Shri Ganesh Singh, Chitrakoot MLA Shri Surendra Singh Gaharwar, District Panchayat Chairman Shri Ramkhelavan Kol, Vice Chancellor Gramodaya University Dr. Bharat Mishra, Executive Chairman DRI Shri Nikhil Mundle along with other senior officials and a large number of saints and followers of Nanaji were present in the tribute ceremony.
