Finance Commission Chairman and members visited the World Heritage Bhim Batka

Bhopal: Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission Dr. Arvind Panagariya and members Mrs. Annie George Mathew, Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh and Dr. Manoj Panda visited the UNESCO World Heritage Bhim Batka. They closely observed the rich heritage of the state’s history and Indian culture.
The members of the Finance Commission said that historical sites like Bhim Batka are invaluable symbols of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Conservation of these sites is extremely necessary for future generations. The Chairman and members of the Finance Commission visited the rock shelters and rock paintings at Bhim Batka. This place has been the center of human activities from the Palaeolithic period to the Middle Historical period. The rock paintings here are mainly related to group dance, outlined human figures, hunting, animals and birds, war and daily activities of ancient human life. The mineral colors used in the paintings are mainly ochre, red and white. The Chairman and members of the Commission were informed about the proposed Rock Art Eco Park Museum at Bhim Batka. The members of the Commission were given detailed information about the rock shelters and rock paintings by guide Ravi Yadav.
