Chief Minister Dr. Yadav met Union Minister Shah
Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav paid a courtesy visit to Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah at his office in North Block, New Delhi and discussed various cooperative issues of the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is progressing in the field of cooperation under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He informed that yesterday the state government has agreed to manage and operate milk unions through the National Dairy Development Board for the next five years. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that this agreement will increase the income of animal husbandry and dairy farmers of about 11 thousand villages. The state government will form multipurpose cooperative institutions in these 11 thousand villages to strengthen the cooperative sector. Dr. Yadav informed that due to increase in milk production in the state, Sanchi Milk Union will be upgraded. Sanchi brand will be made better.
Madhya Pradesh is leading in milk production after Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The state is producing 5.5 crore litres of milk per day. Madhya Pradesh is better than the national average in terms of per capita availability of milk. While the availability of milk per person in the country is 459 grams per day, it is 644 grams in Madhya Pradesh. The state’s milk production is targeted to be doubled in the next five years. For this, work will be done to strengthen the cooperative movement and benefit farmers and animal breeders. Efforts will be made to increase milk production in about 40 thousand villages of the state. At present, the milk production situation is satisfactory in 10 to 15 thousand villages. Efforts will be made to increase milk production in the remaining villages through various measures.
The National Dairy Development Board works for the expansion and strengthening of milk cooperatives in the country, milk production, milk marketing, technical advice, milk processing, animal breeding, latest technical advice related to animal husbandry, etc. In a meeting with the National Dairy Development Board, it was agreed to provide support by the National Dairy Development Board with the objective of increasing the capacity of animal husbandry, milk production, milk collection and strengthening the processing and distribution system in Madhya Pradesh.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah appreciated this innovation of the state government and suggested working in this direction in the entire state. Shri Shah also assured all possible assistance from the Central Government in the efforts being made in the cooperative sector.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed hope that this decision will benefit the food processing and agriculture-based industries along with the prosperity of the milk-producing farmers of the state. Farmers will have full participation not only in raw materials but also in their products for agriculture-based industries. He also informed Union Minister Shri Shah about the Regional Industry Conclave being organized at the divisional level to promote employment and industry in Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also thanked the Central Government for its decision to procure soybean crop at the minimum support price.
Key points of the Tri-Partite MoU
A tripartite agreement was signed between the National Dairy Development Board, Madhya Pradesh Animal Husbandry and State Dairy Co-operative Federation.
Cooperative coverage will be expanded through dairy cooperatives.
For increasing farmer training and cooperative dairy coverage, farmer producer organizations, self-help groups and multipurpose primary agricultural cooperative societies (M-PACS) registered under the Cooperative Act will be included.
Will improve quality at various stages of milk collection, transportation and processing.
Optimal use of existing infrastructure, plant technology upgradation and end-to-end digitization will be done.
Will strengthen marketing activities in the market of milk and milk products including policy suggestions for marketing in other states and export abroad.
Positions and capacity building of human resources will be done. Best practices will be adopted in the selection process for dairy cooperatives.
Consensus was reached on policy suggestions for revival of Gwalior and Jabalpur milk unions and reorganization of the area of operation of Jabalpur milk union, and establishment of reorganized Jabalpur milk union for Jabalpur division and new Rewa-Shahdol milk union for Shahdol and Rewa divisions.
