Chief Minister Dhami Champions Local Products, Sports Tweed Jackets and Scarves from Uttarakhand’s Mountains
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is leading the charge for the “Vocal for Local” campaign by sporting jackets made from tweed produced in Uttarakhand’s mountainous regions, including Malari and Munsyari. He’s been seen wearing these locally-made garments at various government and political events. This initiative aims to boost local products and strengthen their branding. Earlier, the Chief Minister had instructed all state departments to prioritize the purchase of local products. This move will not only provide financial support to local artisans and producers but also help promote Uttarakhand’s unique handicrafts and products on a national and international level.
“Our goal is to preserve Uttarakhand’s culture and traditions by encouraging local products,” said the Chief Minister. “Products like Munsyari tweed are symbols of our rich heritage. The government will make every effort to support local artisans and entrepreneurs.” This step is expected to revitalize local industries and promote self-reliance in the state. Additionally, it’s anticipated that the tourism sector will benefit from this initiative, as local products could become attractive souvenirs for visitors. The Chief Minister has also urged state officials and employees to embrace local products and wear clothes made from local wool, further promoting the campaign.
