Team India announced for the first Test against India, Pant and Bumrah return
Team India has been announced for the first match of the two-Test series against Bangladesh. A team of 16 players has been selected for the match to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19.
Opportunity for Sarfaraz and Dhruv
Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel have been included for the middle order. Fast bowler Yash Dayal has got a chance in the Test team for the first time. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will return to the team.
Yash Dayal gets chance for the first time
Fast bowlers Akash Deep and Yash Dayal have been included in the squad. Sarfaraz, Dhruv and Akash made their debut in the series against England this year. Yash has been included in the team for the first time. He took four wickets in the first round of the Duleep Trophy.
Players who did not play the Duleep Trophy made a place
Six players who did not play the Duleep Trophy have made a place in the team. These include Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj. All the players except Virat were involved in the Test series against England in February-March this year.
Changes in the team playing against England
India played a five-Test series against England between January and March this year. 12 players of that squad have got a place in the Bangladesh series, while the four new players include Virat, Yash, Rahul and Pant.
King Kohli could not play the series against England due to family reasons. While Pant and KL Rahul were injured. Dayal has been included due to better performance in domestic cricket.
