Officers and employees should not go on leave in view of the situation of excessive rain and flood: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that there is a possibility of rain in the state till September 30. Officers and employees should not go on leave in view of the situation of excessive rain and flood. Despite excessive rain, life should remain normal, for this, necessary precautions should be taken in time and rescue work should be done. Safety of people’s lives should be given top priority, the concerned officer will be held responsible for loss of life. Relief camps should be set up to provide security and facilities to the people affected by excessive rain and flood and cooperation of social organizations should also be taken in this. Assessment of damage to crops due to flood and information about animal loss should also be started as soon as possible. There should be no delay in the distribution of relief amount, adequate budget is available for relief to the victims of flood and excessive rain. Arrangement of clean drinking water, medicines etc. should be ensured in the relief camps. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave the above instructions in the emergency meeting held at Samatva Bhavan for the situation created by excessive rain in the state and rescue. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the situation of the districts through video conferencing. All divisional commissioners, IG, Commissioner of Police, District Collector, SP should join the video conferencing.

People living in lower settlements should be alerted in time

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has said that due to the change in the cycle of rain, there is more rain in the month of September than it should be. People living in lower settlements should be alerted in time and they should be shifted to relief camps as per the need. He said that necessary caution and vigilance should be increased immediately on those culverts and bridges where there is water. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that relief should be provided in case of loss of life and animal loss due to the effect of excessive rain. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced to provide assistance of Rs. 4 lakh each to all the collectors in case of loss of life and directed the collectors to immediately provide the amount to the family.

Immediate arrangements should be made to airlift people trapped in floods by helicopter

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that wherever people are trapped in flood water, immediate arrangements should be made to airlift them by helicopter. Old dilapidated buildings should be identified and protective arrangements should be made and if necessary, residents should be shifted to a safe place. Chief Secretary Mrs. Veera Rana, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Director General of Police Mr. Sudhir Kumar Saxena, Principal Secretaries, Water Resources, Home, Panchayat and Rural Development, Public Works Department, Urban Development and Housing, Revenue, Public Health Medical Education were present in the meeting held at Samatva Bhavan.

NDRF and SDRF teams active in rescue work

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav received information regarding heavy rainfall and floods in the district from the collectors of Guna, Datia, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Rajgarh, Tikamgarh in video conferencing. It was informed in the video conferencing that 18 people are trapped in Pohuch river near Bhander in Datia district, there is also information of people being trapped in water in Dabra. There is news of one person dying and three people getting injured due to being buried under a tree in Morena. It was told in the meeting that helicopters are being dispatched from Jhansi, Bareilly and Gorakhpur to rescue people trapped in the flood. NDRF team has been called for rescue and relief work in Tikamgarh. SDRF team is active with boats and other rescue materials in Gwalior Chambal region. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in view of the possibility of rain in the coming days in the state, proper arrangements should be made for prior information and publicity of floods. He gave instructions for adequate storage of essential commodities.

Till now, the state has received 14 percent more rainfall than the average

It was told in the meeting that till September 11, 991.9 mm rainfall has occurred in the state, which is 14 percent more than the average. More than normal rainfall has been recorded in 12 districts of the state namely Rajgarh, Khargone, Bhopal, Seoni, Mandla, Bhind, Sheopur, Chhindwara, Barwani, Shivpuri, Singrauli, Neemuch, Alirajpur, Gwalior and Guna. Monsoon is expected to remain active in most of the districts of the state in the next 2 days as well. After this, there is a possibility of decrease in rainfall. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heavy rainfall in Bhind, Datia, Gwalior, Morena, Sheopur Kala, Agar-Malwa, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Niwari and Rajgarh. Currently, the gates of 31 out of 54 dams in the state are open. Relief camps are operating in various districts.
