More and more people should participate in the marathon: Minister Sarang

bhopal: Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang held discussions with the officials of private and government universities on Friday regarding the Army Marathon to be held on January 19. He appealed to all the youth and faculty of the university to participate in the marathon to stay fit. Everyone agreed to participate in it to stay fit. Minister Sarang called upon the people of Bhopal to participate in the marathon in maximum numbers.

The marathon will be held in three categories Minister Sarang said that run with the Indian Army for a clean India, green India, fit India. It should become a symbol of endurance, determination and victory. He informed that the marathon will promote the Fit India unity and patriotism campaign of the Government of India through its motto “Fit India, Run with Indian Army”. There are 3 categories in the marathon, in which registration can be done for 21 km, 10 km and 5 km at a minimum fee. Participants will be given a T-shirt and a certificate of participation in the Army Marathon. Not only this, institutions and universities will also be given a certificate with a memento. He informed that the marathon will start from Dronachal in Bhopal and end at Dronachal via VIP Road. Minister Sarang has also asked all university officials to do extensive publicity through the social media accounts of the concerned institutions.

The army plays an important role in our security Minister Sarang said that we are safe at home and in the country, the army has an important contribution in this. For this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked to publicly express the feeling of respect towards the army and soldiers. An important army set-up is also established in Bhopal. Citizens can express cooperation and respect through the Army Marathon. He said that history can be created by taking maximum participation in the marathon.

Promoting a culture of fitness Army Major General  Sumit Kabthiyaal said that the state government is supporting the marathon through Minister Sarang. This marathon will promote the culture of fitness and will prove helpful in keeping fit and creating awareness about health. He said that through the battlefield in Dronachal, information about the history of the war and the martyrs will also be gained. He said that about 600 registrations of NCC alone have been done in the marathon. The marathon is for everyone, family, friends, everyone can participate in it.

Prize money up to Rs 10 lakh The Army Marathon will start at 6 am. Around 12 thousand participants from all areas will take part in the races of the three categories. Apart from attractive sponsored prizes, cash prizes of up to Rs 10 lakh will also be given. Cash prizes of Rs 5,30,000 will be given to the winners of different categories in the half marathon, Rs 2,64,000 will be given to the winners of different categories in 10 km and Rs 1,87,000 in 5 km. Army Marathon Bhopal 2025 is being organized by Sudarshan Chakra Corps of Indian Army to commemorate Army Day on 15th January. The marathon is being organized as an annual tribute to the historic day when General KM Cariappa took over as the first Commander in Chief of Indian Army in 1949. It will commence from Bhopal, bringing together members of the armed forces, local communities and sports enthusiasts. Army Marathon Bhopal is the first sporting event to be held in Bhopal under the aegis of HQ West MP Sub Area. The aim is to make Army Marathon a major event in the sports world and to mark it in the annual marathon calendar along with Fit India Movement. Brigadier S.S. Chhillar Army Medal, Colonel Vishal Ahuja, Colonel Rajesh Nayak, Joint Director Mr. B.S. Yadav and officials of private and government universities located in Bhopal were present in the meeting.
