Uttarakhand : Uttarakhand Government Cabinet Minister Premchand Agarwal’s Son Faces Legal Action Over Tree Cutting The Uttarakhand government has taken legal action against Piyush Agarwal, the son of Cabinet Minister Premchand Agarwal. He is accused of illegally cutting down protected trees to build a resort on private property. Details of the Incident Reports indicate that 26 trees were cut down on the Neelkanth Road in Khairkhal. According to forest department officials, 24 of these trees belong to non-protected species, while two are of protected species. The Lal Dhang range has filed a case against Piyush Agarwal for cutting down the two Khair trees and for allegedly cutting a road on the property without permission.
Unauthorized Operation of JCB Machine
It has been reported that a JCB machine operated at the site for several days without proper authorization. After taking notice, the revenue sub-inspector visited the location and halted the work three times. Locals claim that no strict action was ever taken by the tehsil administration due to the influential nature of the landowners. Ongoing Investigation According to information, Akash Gangwar, the DFO of Kotdwar, stated that two protected trees were cut down without permission. A case has been registered against the landowner after counting the trees. The investigation into the matter is ongoing. Previous Controversies Surrounding Piyush Agarwal This isn’t the first time Piyush Agarwal has been in the spotlight. In 2018, he was controversially appointed as an assistant engineer in the water department without following proper procedures. There were claims that no interviews were conducted, no merit list was created, and no public announcement was made regarding the appointment.
