International news : Italy’s Prime Minister Meloni becomes victim of deepfake video

Italy’s PM Georgia Meloni has become a victim of deepfake. He has demanded damages of one lakh euros from the accused of making deepfake porn video and posting it online. This is equivalent to approximately Rs 90 lakh in Indian currency. It is claimed that two people superimposed Meloni’s face onto that of an adult film star and uploaded it to an American porn website.

The accused include father and son. The son’s age is 40 years and his father’s age is 73 years. Together they made an obscene video of Meloni. Meloni has filed a defamation case against both the accused. Both have been arrested. Police said they found the accused by tracking the mobile device. He used it to post the video online. The deepfake video is from before he becomes the PM of the country in 2022. This video has since been viewed millions of times. Meloni Sassari will testify in court on July 2.

Meloni will donate the compensation amount
PM Meloni’s legal team said, demanding damages is a symbolic action. Meloni will donate the entire compensation amount to help women victims of violence. Meloni’s lawyer, Maria Giulia Marongiu, said the demand for compensation was a message to other women who are victims of such violence. Meloni says that women who are victims of violence should not be afraid to raise their voice.
