In-principle approval for starting Madhya Pradesh Krishak Kalyan Mission

Bhopal: A cabinet meeting was held in the Secretariat on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. The cabinet gave in-principle permission to start the Madhya Pradesh Kisan Kalyan Mission by bringing together the schemes prevalent in the Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department, Horticulture and Food Processing Department, Fisheries Department, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department, Cooperative Department, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department for the coordinated development of the farmers of the state.

Madhya Pradesh has made unprecedented progress in the agriculture sector. Agricultural productivity (kilogram per hectare) was 1195 in the year 2002-2003 which increased to 2393 in the year 2024. This increase has been 200 percent. Crop production (lakh metric tons) has increased from 224 in the year 2002-2003 to 723 in the year 2024, increasing by 323 percent. Agricultural growth rate (in percentage) increased from 3 percent in 2002-2003 to 9.8 percent in 2024. There was an increase of 327 percent. The budget of the agriculture sector (crore rupees) increased to 600 crores in the year 2002-2003 and 27050 crores in the year 2024, increasing the growth rate to 4508 percent. The contribution of the agriculture sector in Madhya Pradesh is 39 percent in the state’s GDP.

The objective of M.P. Krishak Kalyan Mission is to increase the income of farmers, make agriculture climate-friendly, adopt sustainable agricultural practices, conserve biodiversity and traditional agricultural knowledge, ensure nutrition and food security, and ensure fair prices for farmers’ produce.

Increasing farmers’ income – increasing crop productivity under agriculture and horticulture, cultivation of high value crops, availability of quality inputs – seeds, planting material, fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural extension and capacity building, easy availability of loans at affordable interest rates, food processing and agro-based industries, value-chain development and strengthening of existing value-chain, research and development for the specific problems of Madhya Pradesh.

Agriculture and Horticulture Sustainable Agricultural Practices include adoption of Good Agriculture Practices (GAP), increase in organic/natural farming area, creation and strengthening of market linkages for organic and natural products, issuance of certificates for organic and natural products and development of traceability system, ensuring fair prices for farmers’ produce, modernization and upgradation of Mandis, use of technology for management of Mandi operations, strengthening of transparent and fair auction process in Mandis and development of facility for selling produce outside Mandis, preparation of action plan for crops in which futures contracts are permitted.

To increase the income of farmers, the coverage of milk collection through cooperatives under cooperatives and fisheries will be taken to 26000 villages. The present capacity of milk collection and processing will be increased to 50 lakh liters / day. Reducing the number of destitute cattle by using stall feeding and domestic alternatives of mineral mixture in animals. Use of modern techniques for income increase in fisheries sector – Cage Farming and Biofloc, Self-employment will be promoted by providing loans at zero percent interest rate under Fisherman / Farmer Credit Card Scheme.

Other components of the mission include climate adaptation and risk mitigation of agriculture, development of climate resilient varieties, adoption of animal husbandry and fisheries along with agricultural crops, conservation of biodiversity and traditional agricultural knowledge, documentation, preservation and use of traditional agricultural practices.

In the expected results of the mission, the gross added value of horticultural crops will be increased more than that of agriculture based crops. The area of ​​horticultural crops will be brought at par with the national average. To increase agricultural mechanization by one and a half times, to increase capital investment in agriculture sector by 75 percent, to make the state free from stubble burning, to bring 10 percent of the total sown area under organic/natural/good agriculture practice agriculture and to bring micro irrigation to 20 percent area.

Increasing crop insurance coverage to 50 percent, expanding hybrid and improved seeds to half the area, providing energy-giving solar energy pumps to the state’s farmers on subsidy, establishing new processing areas, expanding marketing network and increasing access to markets outside the state, making the state self-sufficient in the matter of fish seeds, increasing the price received by farmers for fish wealth by one and a half times through cold chain and network development, rearing of high productivity fish to 10288 metric tons, 1.47 lakh Kisan Credit Cards will be provided for fish farming. Milk collection in the organized sector will be increased to 50 lakh liters per day. Livestock productivity will be increased by 50 percent. Creating a state-wide network for the care of helpless cows, so that their presence on the roads can be reduced to zero.

The Chief Minister will be the Chairman of the General Assembly of Madhya Pradesh Krishak Kalyan Mission. The Chief Secretary will be the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Mission Implementation. The Mission will be implemented at the district level under the chairmanship of the Collector.

Approval of new posts in Gandhi Medical College and Associated Hospital

The cabinet has approved the creation of 12 new posts for regular establishment in the departments of Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Neurology and Neonatology in Gandhi Medical College and Associated Hospital under the Department of Public Health and Medical Education. These posts include 3 posts of Professor, 3 posts of Associate Professor, 3 posts of Assistant Professor and 3 posts of Senior Resident.
