Haldwani – Wanted Criminal Arrested in Police Encounter After 22 Years on the Run
Haldwani: the Nainital police are actively pursuing fugitives, and in this effort, they have arrested Naushad, a wanted criminal who had been on the run for the past 22 years and had a bounty of ₹10,000 on his head. Naushad was apprehended in Hapur following a police encounter. He has more than half a dozen criminal cases registered against him in Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan.
Under the direction of SSP Nainital Pralhad Narayan Meena, the police have launched a campaign to capture fugitives in the district. A team was formed under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Prakash Chandra and Circle Officer Nitin Lohani. Led by Sub-Inspector Rajat Kasana, the police team worked with the Simbhavli police in Hapur to track down Naushad’s location. During the arrest attempt, Naushad fired at the police team, but they responded and managed to apprehend him, injuring him in the process, near the Navada canal. From the scene, the police recovered an illegal firearm along with a live cartridge, a spent cartridge of .315 bore, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle. The police team included Sub-Inspector Rajat Singh Kasana, Constable Anil Giri, and Constable Sonu Singh.
