Bhopal: The meeting of EAG (Eurasian Group) countries will prove to be a milestone in stopping money laundering and terror funding. All the big countries need to unite and take big steps to stop money laundering and terror funding. The unity of all EAG group member countries is a big step to control terrorism in the world. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, effective steps have been taken to stop money laundering and terror funding. Honorable Governor Mangubhai Patel said this in the inaugural session of the 41st EAG Plenary Countries Meeting in Indore on Thursday.
Governor Patel said that special efforts were made in India for a transparent financial system through demonetization and digitalization. He said that more special efforts are required to be made to stop illegal financial activities with the use of modern technology. For this, the EAG Group countries need to make strong diplomatic and forceful efforts. The efforts of the EAG Group countries for peace at the international level will prove to be effective and result-oriented.
Addressing the program, Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary said that the group of Eurasian countries is important for the prevention of money laundering and terrorism financing. He said that the Government of India is working with full strength against terror funding. Special efforts have been made in India to prevent black money act, economic crime and this is continuing. Special efforts have been made under GST, Digital India for a clean and transparent financial system in India. UPI digital transactions are being given special encouragement. The Directorate of Transformation in India is constantly getting strengthened. All the agencies of India together are taking effective and strict action against those who fund terrorism and extremism, money laundering. The EAG Group meeting will prove to be important in further strengthening these efforts of India.
While addressing, Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat said that the meeting of EAG Group in the city of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar is a matter of pride. He said that money laundering is a direct threat to the economy of a country, but when it nourishes terrorism, it gives rise to serious challenges to world peace and harmony. The financial help received by terrorism is a matter of concern for the entire world. To deal with this, the big countries of the world will have to unite. This event is a big step towards global integrity and the interest of humanity. He said that Naxalism and drug trade are also increasing due to money laundering. It is a big challenge for us to deal with this.

EAG Group Chairman Mr. Yuri Chikanchin said that India’s efforts in EAG Group are meaningful, effective and praiseworthy. During the meeting in different sessions, the group countries discussed important decisions regarding efforts to stop terror funding, money laundering. He said that future challenges and their prevention were also discussed in the meeting. Terrorism funding is a serious challenge in Eurasian and African countries and other regions of the world. In the EAG Group meeting, discussions were held regarding better use of technology. He said that India’s efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi are praiseworthy.

Finance Secretary of the Government of India, Sanjay Malhotra, gave detailed information regarding the steps taken to prevent terror financing, money laundering and transparent economy. He said that the EAG Group has an important role to play in controlling terror funding and money laundering and other new challenges in the Eurasian region. He said that it is a matter of pride for us that none of the countries included in the EAG Group are in the grey list. He said that special efforts are constantly being made for better coordination among the group countries. India got the opportunity to host the meeting of the EAG Group countries. It is a matter of pride for India. He said that there is a need to use technology and AI for better security measures in the present times. He said that along with money laundering, there is also a need to do better work for asset recovery of people affected by financial fraud. India is also making effective efforts in this area.
In the program, Mayor Indore Pushyamitra Bhargav presented the certificate of Eurasian Garden present in Indore to EAG President Yuri Chikanchin. Governor Patel and Union Minister of State for Finance Chaudhary inaugurated the inaugural session by lighting the lamp. In the meeting, Additional Secretary of Union Finance Vivek Agarwal gave detailed information about the program. Delegates and representatives of EAG Plenary countries were present in the program.
