Dhami Government’s Bulldozer Roars in Nainital 12 Shops Demolished
In Haldwani, as part of a road widening initiative, 12 shops were demolished right in front of the railway station. This action was taken by a team from the administration, police, and the Public Works Department after the shop owners failed to vacate the area despite receiving notices. The road widening work is set to extend from Nariman Chowk to Kaltax. On Monday, the team arrived in Kathgodam to oversee the road widening project. Since the shop owners did not clear the space as instructed, the authorities took down the general store, restaurant, and other shops located directly in front of the railway station.
According to the Public Works Department, further actions will be taken in other areas as well. The road widening project includes work from Nariman Chowk to Kaltax. After demolishing some government and private buildings in the upper section, the road was widened, but the part near the Kathgodam railway station remained. On that day, City Magistrate A.P. Vajpayee, along with SDM Paritosh Verma, officials from the Public Works Department, and police forces, arrived with bulldozers to carry out the demolition. As a result, 12 structures, including a general store, vegetable shop, and restaurant, were taken down without any opposition from the owners. Additionally, the Public Works Department mentioned that a hotel owner has also been instructed to move a wall back soon. If they do not comply, further action will be taken.
