Development is taking place in the tribal villages of the state through Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY) is being run by the Government of India under special central assistance to protect the social and economic interests of the tribal class and for the overall development of their settlements. In this scheme, 7 thousand 307 tribal-dominated villages of 47 districts of Madhya Pradesh have been selected. Under the scheme, development works of various categories will be done in these selected villages in five years.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana, in the financial year 2021-22 and 2022-23, 6 thousand 50 works related to expansion of basic facilities as well as educational and skill upgradation have been done in 2 thousand 523 villages of 15 districts including Barwani, Bhopal, Burhanpur, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Guna, Khandwa, Narsinghpur, Rajgarh, Singrauli, Vidisha, Rewa, Jhabua, Dhar and Sheopur at a cost of Rs 133 crore 14 lakh 62 thousand. The action plan sent for 302 crore 53 lakh 58 thousand rupees for 4 thousand 27 development works in 1 thousand 675 villages of 15 districts namely Anuppur, Morena, Satna, Sidhi, Dewas, Betul, Sheopur, Sidhi, Mandla, Umaria, Neemuch, Ratlam, Alirajpur, Mandsaur and Khargone has been approved by the Government of India in the financial year 2024-25. Now as per the action plan, the approved construction works are being done here.
Construction works are going on in most villages of Dhar district
In Dhar district selected in Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana, more than 1 thousand 634 construction works are currently being done in the maximum 689 villages in the state. Rs 136 crore 35 lakh 12 thousand have been sanctioned for these works from the Government of India. Out of the sanctioned amount, development amount of Rs. 12 crore 50 lakh 78 thousand has been spent so far. In these 689 villages, work is being done with the development amount sanctioned by the Government of India for construction of Anganwadi buildings, government fair price shops, additional rooms in schools/hostels/ashrams, toilets, kitchen sheds, dining halls, electrification, expansion of drinking water facilities, furniture, painting work, additional rooms in sub health centers/public health centers, boundary wall construction, public toilets, drainage construction for water disposal. Similarly, for the improvement of drinking water facilities in these villages, pipeline expansion, water tank construction, electrification and line expansion works in tribal settlements, construction of livelihood buildings and community buildings under Aajeevika Mission, construction of stop dams/check dams for expansion of irrigation facilities and construction of internal access roads and bridges (culverts) to villages and government institutions for infrastructural development.
About the scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana is to be implemented in 5 financial years (2021-22 to 2025-26). The objective of this scheme is to develop villages with specific tribal population as an ideal village (model village).
On the basis of the 2011 census, more than 36 thousand 428 villages with at least 50 percent tribal population and tribal population of at least 500 are to be covered under this scheme. The scheme will benefit 4 crore 22 lakh (about 40 percent of the total tribal population of the country) tribal population. Integrated socio-economic development of all the villages selected in the scheme will be done. This also includes preparing a ‘Gram Vikas Yojana’ based on the needs, capabilities and aspirations of the tribal class. Apart from this, taking the coverage of individual/family/community benefit schemes of central/state governments to the maximum level and strengthening important sectors like health, education, connectivity and livelihood are also the major components of this scheme.
Under the scheme, works like road connectivity (internal and inter-village), telecommunication connectivity (mobile/internet connectivity), schools, Anganwadi centres, health sub-centres, drinking water facility, drainage and solid waste management etc. will be done. Under the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana, funds are being given at the rate of Rs 20 lakh 38 thousand per village as gap filling for approved activities including administrative expenses. In the villages identified in PMAAGY, coordinated use of Scheduled Tribe component fund and existing resources is also being encouraged for development of infrastructure and services. In the selected villages, works like education, health, drinking water, road, livelihood, forest-wealth development, water conservation, skill development, development of communication facilities and access roads to villages etc. will be done under the Gram Vikas Yojana.
