Universities should recognize the potential of regional resources and environment: Governor Shri Patel
Bhopal: Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that universities should aim for high quality in their systems. In the National Education Policy, universities have been given sufficient autonomy to achieve their goals. It is important that the Vice Chancellor identifies the possibilities of development according to his capabilities, the resources of the university and the surrounding environment.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that universities should come out of their limited scope in the context of the National Education Policy. Prepare an action plan based on the current demand and future possibilities. He has directed the officials of the Higher Education Department to form a task force and prepare an action plan for all universities within the time limit.
Governor Shri Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav were addressing the meeting of Vice Chancellors of Government Universities held at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla and Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development (Independent Charge) Shri Lakhan Patel were also present.
Be sensitive towards student welfare : Governor Shri Patel
Governor Shri Patel has asked the Vice Chancellors to be sensitive towards matters of student welfare. Parents send their children to government universities trusting the government. They should be looked after with a parent’s perspective. He said that the Vice Chancellor should also inspect the hostels, mess, sports facilities and classrooms on a regular basis.
Create courses for regional employment opportunities
Governor Shri Patel said that universities should focus on courses that increase employment opportunities at the regional level. Along with degree and diploma, demand-based courses should also be started. Arrangements should also be made for the study of related subjects for employment and availability of human resources as per the requirements of local industries and business establishments. He also stressed the need to make special efforts for the availability and upgradation of sports facilities in the university. Governor Shri Patel said that maximum participation of students should be made in the activities of Red Cross.
Make a plan to start employment based courses – Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that all universities should become multi-disciplinary self-reliant universities. Along with traditional subjects, special efforts should be made to start courses based on demand and having high employment prospects.
Promote online valuation process
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that universities should streamline the arrangements based on the autonomy provided in the National Education Policy. Modern technology should be used to facilitate admission to students, excellent education, timely examinations and immediate declaration of results. Promote the system of online evaluation of exam answer sheets. Similarly, the necessary formalities for the distribution of mark sheets and degrees should be completed at the time of admission itself, so that their immediate availability in the DG locker of the students is ensured.
Government universities will get full support
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the government is committed to the betterment of higher education institutions. The government is giving full support to the universities. The government has made the universities resource-rich by taking new initiatives to ensure the availability of financial, physical and human resources. The staff of universities is as important for the government as government servants.
Universities should think about self -financing system
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that universities will have to be self-reliant. For the excellence of the university, work will have to be done with a new vision to exploit the resources and possibilities. For this, the Vice Chancellors will have to demonstrate their talent and capability regarding the suitability of own resources, self-financing and PPP model. It is the responsibility of the Vice Chancellors to improve the physical and educational needs of the university. On the basis of which their work will also be evaluated. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that universities based on traditional, technical and professional courses should expand in other areas besides their field of work.
Digital evaluation is in the interest of students : Higher Education Minister Mr. Singh
In the meeting, Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar said that effective, transparent and fair conduct of examinations is necessary. Digital evaluation is in favour of student interests. Universities should make better use of modern technology in examination evaluation related works. Possibilities of digital evaluation system should be explored to prepare the examination results on time. He said that the system of depositing funds in the university should also be examined. Action should also be taken regarding the use and investment of funds in the development of the university.
