Chief Minister Dhami Urges Quick Action on Relocation for Song Dam Drinking Water Project
During a meeting at the secretariat, Chief Minister Dhami instructed officials to expedite the relocation process necessary to start work on the Song Dam drinking water project. He emphasized that land should be made available to the affected families as quickly as possible, based on their consent.
Additionally, all essential facilities must be provided for those who will be displaced. The Chief Minister also mentioned that if there is a need to construct community buildings, temples, roads, or any other structures, these should be done in agreement with the affected families. He further directed that work on the Jamrani Dam project should be accelerated.
The Song Dam drinking water project is expected to supply 150 million liters per day of drinking water to approximately 1.1 million residents of Dehradun city. This will also help improve the groundwater levels. Furthermore, about 15,000 people living in 10 villages downstream of the dam will benefit from flood protection.The meeting was attended by key officials, including Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Vinay Shankar Pandey, S.N. Pandey, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. Dhananjay Mohan, Additional Secretary Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Lalit Mohan Rayal, Chief Engineer of the Irrigation Department Jaipal Singh, and other relevant officials.
