Ambikapur Weather Update: Cloudy Skies, Light Rain Bring Relief from Intense Heat

The weather in Ambikapur, a city in northern Chhattisgarh, has taken a pleasant turn after a long spell of intense heat. On Monday, the sky was filled with clouds, accompanied by a cool breeze and light drizzling, making the weather enjoyable. This change is due to the activation of a western disturbance, which was predicted by the weather department. The meteorological forecast had already indicated that the weather could worsen around the 22nd and 23rd of April. Indeed, the forecast turned out to be accurate, as the sun has been hidden by clouds, providing relief from the scorching heat.

Over the past few days, temperatures in Ambikapur had exceeded 40 degrees Celsius, and the high heat had caused the state government to declare summer vacations for all schools earlier than usual. Despite the intense heat, a new western disturbance became active on Sunday, bringing clouds and a slight drop in temperature. This caused a noticeable increase in humidity. According to weather expert A.M. Bhatt, the disturbance could bring strong winds and light rain with thunder and lightning to the region over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Additionally, another new western disturbance has been activated, potentially combining with the existing system to create a powerful weather system. This could further impact the weather, leading to more significant cloud cover, wind, and rain over the coming days. Consequently, the heatwave has been mitigated, providing relief to the residents. Given these changes, the state government has announced summer vacations in all government, private, and grant-in-aid schools from Monday, April 22, to June 15. This decision was taken to ensure students’ safety and health in light of the extreme heat conditions.
