Launch of the first handloom cafe run only by women

Bhopal. Pranpur, located 4 km from the famous tourist destination Chanderi in Ashoknagar district, has been developed as the country’s first craft handloom tourist village by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. Now a ‘Handloom Cafe’ has been prepared here for tourists. The special thing about the cafe is that it is being run entirely by women, which will be the first such cafe in MP. Tourism Board’s Additional Managing Director Ms. Bidisha Mukherjee saw the arrangements of the ‘Handloom Cafe’ in Pranpur and boosted the morale of the women employees by wishing them.

Additional Managing Director Ms. Mukherjee said that this cafe is an important step towards promoting women empowerment and making it a safe tourist destination. This cafe will be run entirely by women, in which all personnel and managerial positions including security guard, chef, receptionist, cashier, front office manager will be handled by women. For the successful operation of the cafe, all the women have been given special training at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Bhopal. The group of women has been registered as Sakhi Saheli Lok Kalyan Sangh.

Additional Managing Director Ms. Mukherjee said that this project not only provides these women with an opportunity to get employment, but will also provide them with the necessary skills, confidence and financial independence to improve their quality of life. Also, this effort reflects the state’s broader mission to promote a safe and inclusive environment for women tourists.
