Work with the spirit of public welfare through public works: Minister Singh
Bhopal. On the occasion of Engineer’s Day, under the chief hospitality of Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh, the unveiling program of the half-statue of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya ji was organized in Nirman Bhawan.
In the program, Minister Singh praised the contribution of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and said that his ideals and technical skills are still a source of inspiration. He congratulated all the engineers for their excellent work and said, “Engineers are the backbone of the country. It is their technical expertise and hard work that strengthens the infrastructure of the country. Minister Shri Singh called upon all the engineers to work with the spirit of ‘Public welfare through public construction’. Public welfare through public construction is the motto that shows the ultimate objective behind your efforts. If anyone does the most important work of public welfare, then it is engineers like you and the Public Works Department, whose roads, buildings, bridges etc. make the life of the common man comfortable. Minister Shri Singh said that during road construction, decisions like making Lok Kalyan Sarovar, making recharge bores on the roadside, shifting trees instead of cutting them, fulfill the public welfare through public construction.
Minister Shri Singh said that we implemented the Lokpath App to make the roads pothole-free, it was being seen as a big challenge for us, which we implemented successfully and through the Lokpath App, the common people are uploading complaints related to potholes on the app. Which are being resolved by the department within the time limit. Lok-Path App has not only made the work of repairing roads more effective and transparent, but has also given the public an opportunity to become an active participant in this process.
Minister Shri Singh said that we are paying special attention to road quality in the state, many decisions have been taken in this direction. We are giving more emphasis on the quality of asphalt. Under which all contractors will be allowed to buy asphalt only from IOCL, BPCL and HPCL. Along with this, contractors will also have to give bills for asphalt purchase. The department will get these bills cross verified from IOCL, BPCL and HPCL.
Minister Shri Singh announced the start of Lok Nirman Puraskar from the program. He directed the department to start the process for this. He said that the Public Works Department has made important changes in its working style, which are adding new dimensions to the development of the state.
Addressing the program, special guest Prashant Pol said that India has a rich and glorious history of engineering skills, which has been an integral part of the civilization here for thousands of years. From ancient times to the modern era, Indian engineers have used their technical knowledge and skills to realize extraordinary achievements like unique structures, architecture and water management systems. Whether it is the city planning of the Indus Valley Civilization or the advanced technology of today’s modern India, India has always been the center of engineering innovations. This tradition is still alive and is playing an important role in the development of the country.
Additional Chief Secretary PWD Shri K.C. Gupta, Managing Director Building Development Corporation Chandramohan Thakur, Chief Engineer PWD Shri R.K. Mehra, Chief Engineer (Building) PWD Shaligram Baghel also addressed the program.
Minister Shri Singh presented the ISO certificate received by the Quality Control Lab of the department. Along with this, he also distributed letters of appreciation to the officers and contractors who did excellent work.
