Tiger Attack in Bandhavgarh: Woman Killed While Collecting Mahua, Villagers in Panic

Umaria: A tragic incident took place near Kushwaha Kothiya village in the Pampada Range of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, where a woman lost her life in a tiger attack. The incident happened around 9 AM, leaving the villagers in shock and anger. Reports suggest that the tiger attacked her while she was collecting Mahua. The victim has been identified as Rani Singh (27), wife of Omprakash Singh God, a resident of Kushmaha Kothiya. She was gathering Mahua near her house when a tiger, lurking in the nearby bushes, suddenly attacked her. The tiger pounced on her, grabbing her by the neck, killing her instantly. She didn’t even get a chance to scream. However, some villagers nearby saw the attack and raised an alarm, forcing the tiger to flee.

Fear Grips the Village

The presence of a tiger so close to the village has spread fear among the locals. Villagers are now demanding immediate action from the forest department to ensure their safety. They insist that the tiger must be relocated to prevent further attacks. During this season, Mahua collection is a crucial activity for villagers as they rely on forest produce for their livelihood. Despite the danger, they say they have no choice but to continue collecting Mahua. Meanwhile, forest officials have urged them to avoid venturing deep into the forest. Authorities have also assured that efforts will be made to drive the tiger back into the reserve to prevent further incidents.
