Virat Kohli’s Century Leads India to Declare Innings; Australia Faces 534-Run Target

The first match of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is taking place in Perth. After Virat Kohli scored a century, India declared their innings at 487 runs, setting a challenging target of 534 runs for Australia to chase. Alongside Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal also made a significant contribution with a fantastic 161 runs, while KL Rahul added 77 runs. For Australia to win this Test in Perth, they would need to achieve a historic feat, as the highest successful chase in Test cricket history is just 418 runs. No team has ever chased down a target of 500 runs or more in Test matches.After winning the toss, India batted first and managed to score 150 runs before Australia was bowled out for only 104 runs.


This gave India a lead of 46 runs after the first innings.In this first Test against Australia, Virat Kohli completed his 61st Test century, using his experience to guide the Indian team towards a big score. Yashasvi Jaiswal has started to make a name for himself in Test cricket. In his very first Test match on Australian soil, he proved that he is capable of playing long innings. Although he didn’t score in his first innings, he came back strong in the second, sending a clear message that underestimating him would be a mistake.In just 15 Tests, Yashasvi has scored 1,568 runs, including a remarkable 161 runs in the second innings, facing 297 balls. During this innings, he hit 15 fours and 3 sixes before getting caught by Steve Smith off a delivery from Mitchell Marsh. With this impressive performance against Australia, Yashasvi has set several records, and in his first 15 Tests, he has already amassed 1,568 runs, with a highest score of 214.
