Weather Takes a Sudden Turn in Uttarakhand, Light Rain and Snowfall Bring Back the Chill

Dehradun: The weather in Uttarakhand took an unexpected turn as rain showers began from the mountains to the plains. Snowfall covered the peaks around Char Dham, while lower regions witnessed light to moderate rainfall, leading to a slight drop in temperature. Although dry weather is expected in the plains today, cold winds might increase the chill. According to the Meteorological Department, some hilly areas may experience light rainfall.

The rising temperatures over the past few days came to a halt on Saturday. Clouds covered most parts of the state since morning, and Dehradun experienced intermittent light to moderate rainfall. In the afternoon, snowfall occurred in Char Dham, Hemkund Sahib, Auli, Gorson, Harsil, and other high-altitude areas.

Light Rain in Dehradun and Other Areas Brings a Dip in Temperature

Alongside snowfall in the mountains, light rain showers were recorded in the lower regions, leading to a drop of one to two degrees Celsius in temperature. By evening, the sky cleared up in most areas. Dehradun saw sunshine after the drizzle, but the cold intensified at night.

According to Bikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Center, the weather in the plains is expected to remain dry today, with sunshine likely. However, light rain and snowfall are expected in parts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh. Further, on February 20, more rain and snowfall may occur in the hilly areas of the state.

Sudden Weather Change Brings Back Winter in Mussoorie

Mussoorie: The town saw a sudden change in weather on Saturday, with light rain bringing back the winter chill. The sudden cold spell has been challenging for students appearing for high school and intermediate board exams. On Friday, the weather was warm and sunny, resembling April-May temperatures. However, on Saturday morning around 10 AM, drizzles began and continued until about 2 PM. After that, the skies cleared up, and bright sunshine provided relief to the residents.
