Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation is set to receive 200 new buses, as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given the green light for this initiative. The efforts to bring these new buses to Uttarakhand Roadways have gained momentum following the CM’s approval. This decision comes in response to the increasing air pollution in Delhi, which has led the Delhi government to impose a complete ban on BS-4 and diesel buses. As a result, around 200 buses from Uttarakhand were no longer allowed to enter Delhi, causing inconvenience for passengers.Recently, Uttarakhand’s Chief Secretary Radha Raturi and the Transport Minister discussed the procurement of vehicles for the transport corporation. Following this meeting, the Transport Minister met with CM Dhami, who then approved the purchase of 200 new buses. It’s important to note that there are very few BS-6 buses in the transport corporation, while the number of BS-4 and older diesel models is quite high. This has created challenges for bus operations on the Delhi route.
On Friday, the Delhi government implemented a no-entry rule for 194 BS-4 roadways buses coming from Uttarakhand. Despite this, Uttarakhand Roadways sent two BS-4 buses to Delhi on Saturday, which were subsequently fined. Upon receiving this information, all depots were immediately instructed not to send BS-4 buses to Delhi. Now, with the approval from CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, the efforts to secure 200 new buses for Uttarakhand Roadways are moving forward rapidly.
