Uttarakhand Forms Sixth State Finance Commission, Appoints Chairperson

Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand government has formed the Sixth State Finance Commission, with former Chief Secretary N. Ravishankar appointed as its chairperson. This commission will provide recommendations for the next five years. N. Ravishankar Appointed as Chairperson The Uttarakhand government has officially established the Sixth State Finance Commission, with N. Ravishankar, the state’s former Chief Secretary, appointed as its chairperson. The commission will also include former IAS officer P.S. Jangpangi and Dr. M.C. Joshi as members. Dr. Ahmad Iqbal, the Additional Secretary of Finance, has been appointed as the secretary of the commission. A notification regarding this appointment has already been issued by the government. One-Year Term for the Commission The term of the Sixth State Finance Commission of Uttarakhand will last for one year. The commission will submit its recommendations for the five-year period starting from 2026. During this time, the commission will assess the financial situation of the state’s Panchayats, Panchayat Raj institutions, and urban local bodies, and will compile its findings and recommendations to present to the Governor.
