State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh reviewed the pre-poll preparations with senior officials of Surguja district
Raipur, 30 January 2025: Chhattisgarh State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh was on a one-day visit to Surguja to take stock of the pre-poll preparations under the general elections of urban bodies and three-tier panchayats 2025. He held a meeting of senior officials of the district regarding the election in the Collectorate hall and gave necessary guidelines. On this occasion, Secretary of the Commission Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure and Nodal Officer Municipal Corporation and Panchayat Elections (Police) O.P. Pal were also present. State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh told the officials of the district that the preparations made by you in the strong room, counting place, polling centers are good.
He said that there is a need for publicity regarding EVM machines, because this time voters will have to vote twice for mayor and councillor in the same machine. He asked to make voters aware by providing them as much information as possible about EVM machines. He instructed the officers to ensure strict adherence to the code of conduct and prompt resolution of cases of code of conduct violation within the time limit. He appreciated the election preparations being done by the district administration and gave necessary instructions to conduct urban body and three-tier panchayat elections smoothly and peacefully. State Election Commission Secretary Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure said that voting will be done through EVM machines for mayor, chairman, councillor. Make voters aware by doing a demo regarding EVM machines. Ensure better facilities to the officers-employees and police force engaged in election work who will vote through postal ballot.
Divisional Commissioner Narendra Dugga informed about the election preparations being done by the district administration and said that the election work will be completed peacefully. At the same time, Inspector General of Police Mr. Ankit Garg gave information regarding security arrangements. The Collector provided information regarding the necessary preparations for smooth and peaceful conduct of urban body and three-tier Panchayat elections. Sarguja Division Commissioner Mr. Narendra Dugga, IG Sarguja Mr. Ankit Garg, Collector Mr. Vilas Bhoskar, Superintendent of Police Mr. Yogesh Patel, Additional Collector Mr. Sunil Nayak, Deputy Secretary of the Commission Mr. Alok Kumar Srivastava, Under Secretary Mr. Pranay Kumar Verma, Deputy Director of Public Relations Department Mr. Laxmikant Kosaria and Private Secretary Mr. Balram Devangan along with officers and employees related to the election were present in the meeting.
Additional Collector and Sub-District Election Officer Mr. Sunil Nayak provided information about the district regarding the election in the meeting. He told that there are a total of 1 lakh 34 thousand 277 voters in urban bodies and 5 lakh 42 thousand 354 voters in three-tier Panchayat. There are 173 polling stations in urban bodies, out of which 10 are sensitive polling stations. There are 1099 polling stations for three-tier panchayat elections, out of which 77 are sensitive and 12 are highly sensitive. He gave information about the necessary arrangements for smooth and peaceful conduct of general elections of urban bodies and three-tier panchayats, arrangement of officers and employees, security arrangements, EVMs, status of urban body nomination, status of panchayat election nomination, strong room, commissioning place, counting center, ballot paper printing arrangement, election training program, route chart, vehicle arrangement.
