Universities should become a symbol of social justice and empowerment: Governor Shri Patel

Bhopal: Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has said that the university should become a symbol of Baba Saheb’s legacy of social justice and empowerment. The academic activities of the university should be inspired by the thoughts and biography of Baba Saheb. The campus should present a living example of social harmony. Governor Shri Patel was addressing the fifth meeting of the governing body of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Social Science University, Mhow at Raj Bhavan. Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Shri K.C. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Shri Anupam Rajan, Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Ramdas Gomaji Atram were present in the meeting.
Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that the aim of the university is not just to confer degrees to students. The aim of the university is to increase the interest of the future generation towards the life values of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Ambedkar, his struggle for social justice and equality and his work for the upliftment of the deprived. Governor Shri Patel said that universities should not be dependent on the government for financial resources. Efforts should be made for financial self-reliance. University development plans should be implemented in coordination with the government.
Decisions of the Works Council are submitted for approval
The decision of the University Working Council to amend the provision of a member elected by the Working Council in the Vice Chancellor Selection Committee and appoint a member nominated by the State Government was unanimously approved in the meeting of the Governing Body. Similarly, the decision of the Working Council to change the designation of the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor of the University to Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor was also approved in the meeting.
Principal Secretary Tribal Affairs Mr. Gulshan Bamra, Principal Secretary Law Legislative Affairs Mr. N.P. Singh, Principal Secretary Scheduled Caste Welfare Mr. E. Ramesh Kumar, Additional Secretary Raj Bhavan Mr. Umashankar Bhargav, members of the governing body, Director, Social Sciences, Research and Training Mr. Deepak Kumar Verma, Faculty Head Ms. Manisha Saxena, Secretary of the governing body Mr. Kaushalendra Verma and other officers were present in the fifth governing body meeting.
