Top 10 Most Valued Companies: Winners and Losers of This Week’s Market Action

Who Gained and Who Lost – This week in the stock market, trading between Monday and Friday brought mixed results for India’s top 10 most valued companies. While six companies saw their market capitalization (market cap) increase, four experienced a dip. Collectively, the market cap of the four losing companies dropped by ₹1.25 lakh crore, with Reliance Industries taking the biggest hit. On the other hand, the six gainers added a total of ₹58,554.88 crore to their market cap, with Infosys leading the pack.

Companies like Infosys, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Hindustan Unilever, and ITC recorded gains in their market cap this week. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), State Bank of India (SBI), and ICICI Bank saw declines in their valuations.

Stock Market Overview: Decline in Sensex and Nifty

This activity in market caps came against the backdrop of a weak performance by the broader indices. The BSE Sensex fell by 428.87 points (0.55%) on a weekly basis, while the NSE Nifty slipped by 111 points (0.47%) during the same period.

  • Infosys: Infosys emerged as the biggest gainer, with its market cap rising by ₹24,934.38 crore to reach ₹7,78,612.76 crore.
  • HDFC Bank: Its market cap increased by ₹9,828.08 crore, taking it to ₹12,61,627.89 crore.
  • Bharti Airtel: Bharti Airtel’s valuation grew by ₹9,398.89 crore, reaching ₹9,36,413.86 crore.
  • TCS: Tata Consultancy Services added ₹9,262.30 crore, with its market cap climbing to ₹15,01,976.67 crore.
  • Hindustan Unilever: The company saw an increase of ₹3,442.15 crore, pushing its market cap to ₹5,56,594.67 crore.
  • ITC: ITC added ₹1,689.08 crore to its market cap, reaching ₹5,52,392.01 crore.

The Losers: Companies That Faced Market Cap Losses

  • Reliance Industries: Reliance recorded the biggest loss, with its market cap dropping by ₹74,969.35 crore to ₹16,85,998.34 crore.
  • LIC: The market cap of Life Insurance Corporation of India fell by ₹21,251.99 crore, bringing it down to ₹5,19,472.06 crore.
  • SBI: State Bank of India saw its valuation slip by ₹17,626.13 crore to ₹6,64,304.09 crore.
  • ICICI Bank: The market cap of ICICI Bank dropped by ₹11,549.98 crore, taking it to ₹8,53,945.19 crore.

Despite its losses, Reliance Industries retained its position as India’s most valued company with a market cap of ₹16,85,998.34 crore. The rankings for the top 10 most valued companies for the week are as follows:
