Three new schemes for self-employment and development for tribal youth
Bhopal. Three new financial assistance schemes are being run by Madhya Pradesh Tribal Finance and Development Corporation under the Tribal Affairs Department. Out of these, efforts are being made for the overall welfare of the tribal youth by connecting them with self-employment through Bhagwan Birsa Munda Self-Employment Scheme and Tantya Mama Economic Welfare Scheme.
Madhya Pradesh Tribal Finance and Development Corporation received a total of 5 thousand 523 applications under ‘Bhagwan Birsa Munda Self-Employment Scheme’ till January 31, 2024. Out of these, banks have accepted 716 applications and distributed financial assistance of Rs 22 crore 10 lakh 64 thousand 895 to 561 eligible beneficiaries. Only 155 cases are in the final process of distribution of financial assistance. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to 50 lakh for manufacturing activities and Rs 1 lakh to 25 lakh for service and business activities is given to tribal youth through banks. Five percent interest subsidy and bank guarantee on bank loans for a maximum of seven years is paid by the state government.
Under ‘Tantya Mama Economic Welfare Scheme’, the corporation received a total of 6 thousand 11 applications till January 31, 2024. Banks have accepted 699 applications and distributed Rs 2 crore 66 lakh 5 thousand 165 to 490 eligible beneficiaries. Only 209 cases are pending for final disposal. In this scheme, financial assistance is given to tribal youth through banks for self-employment projects ranging from Rs 10 thousand to Rs 1 lakh. Seven percent interest subsidy and bank guarantee on bank loans for a maximum of five years is given by the state government.

Similarly, under the ‘Chief Minister Scheduled Tribe Special Project Funding Scheme’, such projects worth up to Rs 2 crore are given to the tribal youth for livelihood, self-employment and innovation related community infrastructure construction and other related activities, which are implemented under any prevalent scheme/project of the line departments. If it is not possible to do it in India, it is financed 100 percent from the government grant. This scheme is being implemented through line departments/collectors.
