Bhopal. Thinking should be big. The paths are found on their own. Those who try do not lose. With such progressive thinking, farmer Raghuveer Singh thought of doing something new in the old farming. At first he was a little hesitant that if the new way of farming is not successful, then how will he support the family. But Raghuveer Singh took the risk and started farming with sprinkler irrigation method. New thinking brings a new dawn. Raghuveer also got the benefit of his progressiveness. He cultivated garlic in one hectare with sprinkler irrigation method. Raghuveer Singh finally got a net profit of Rs 10 lakh from garlic crop in just one hectare. Water was saved, that is a different matter.
This story of crop profit is from Neemuch district. Raghuveer Singh is an ordinary farmer. He lives in Aamlikheda village near Neemuch. Like other farmers of the village, earlier he also used to do farming with old methods. But now he has abandoned the old methods of farming. By adopting a new thinking, he is setting an example for other farmers by farming with sprinkler irrigation system.
In the year 2022-23, Raghuveer Singh contacted the Horticulture Department for a mini sprinkler plant. Under the ‘Per Drop-More Crop’ scheme, the Horticulture Department gave Raghuveer Singh a grant of Rs 51 thousand and also helped him in installing a sprinkler plant in his field. After installing the sprinkler, Raghuveer started saving in three ways. Water started getting saved. Laborers were not even required for irrigation, which saved money. Pest infestation in garlic crop was also prevented. Also, the quality of garlic also improved. Raghuveer Singh was overjoyed to see the large size of garlic production. 130 quintals of garlic was produced in one hectare. Raghuveer got a total of Rs 13 lakh after taking it to Neemuch Mandi and selling it. After deducting the crop cost, Raghuveer got an incredible net profit of Rs 10 lakh. Inspired by Raghuveer’s profits, other farmers have also started adopting the ‘sprinkler irrigation method’. This method is really proving to be effective in earning more profit at low cost.
