Raipur 9 July 2025: The roots of Buddhist tradition are very deep in Chhattisgarh and the state government is moving on the path of development by assimilating the message of love, peace and compassion of Lord Buddha. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said this while addressing the unveiling ceremony of the newly installed grand statue of Lord Buddha at the Hotel Ground premises in Mainpat of Surguja district today. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai garlanded the statue of Lord Buddha and bowed to him and wished happiness, prosperity and peace for the people of the state. In his address, Chief Minister Sai expressed gratitude to the Tibetan community for the invitation on this auspicious occasion. He said that there are many such places in Chhattisgarh where Lord Buddha is worshipped. Sirpur is a place where Buddhist, Jain and Sanatan traditions coexist, which is a unique example of the inclusive culture of the state. Chief Minister Sai, while commemorating the 90th birthday of Dalai Lama Ji, said that his life is a living symbol of the principles of compassion, love and peace of Lord Buddha. His message for today’s world is a source of new hope and positivity. He said that leaders from all over the world, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have wished Dalai Lama Ji on his birthday, which shows how deeply the thoughts of Lord Buddha have influenced global life.
The Chief Minister said that Mainpat is a place full of natural beauty and cultural diversity, which fascinates tourists. There is immense potential for tourism here, and the state government is committed to its overall development. The Chief Minister said that tourism has been given special priority in the new industrial policy of the state, and special incentives will be provided to those who start home stay facilities in areas like Mainpat. On this occasion, on the demand of Tibetan Cooperative Society, the Chief Minister announced Rs. 10 lakh for the construction of CC road from Saila Resort at Mainpat to the Buddhist temple and Rs. 20 lakh for the construction of shed in the ancient Buddhist temple. Chief Minister Shri Sai planted a sapling on this occasion. It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister was given a warm welcome in the program as per traditional Tibetan customs. People with tricolor in their hands met the Chief Minister enthusiastically, which made the atmosphere joyous. Sarguja MP Shri Chintamani Maharaj, Sitapur MLA Shri Ramkumar Toppo, Collector Shri Vilas Bhoskar, Settlement Officer Ms. Swang Yangso, Tibetan Cooperative Society President Shri Tamding Tsering, Monastery Head Lama Dubje, Lama Jinpa and a large number of members of the Tibetan community were present in the program.
