On Monday, the District Magistrate and Captain came out together on the same bike on the roads of the capital Dehradun. A long line of police also followed them. Seeing this, there was a stir in the city. Actually, District Magistrate Savin Bansal and SSP Ajay Singh came out together to inspect the proper arrangements for women’s safety, such as pink booths, possibility of pink toilets, encroachment, parking, construction and beautification of intersections, traffic system, roads, drainage, etc.
The first pink booth in the capital was set up in Paltan Bazaar and dedicated to women’s safety. This is not a normal police booth, it has great significance for women’s safety. DM Savin Bansal has started it as a pilot project.
If the experiment in Paltan Bazaar is successful, pink booths will be built in different parts of the city. Every complaint related to women’s crime will be resolved at these booths. The police station in-charge will monitor the pink booths opened in the police station area.
