The dream of a healthy India will be realised only when every citizen is healthy: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla

Bhopal: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla has said that the vision that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has prepared for a developed India in the year 2047 can be achieved only by keeping every citizen healthy. For this, we will have to get rid of various diseases as well as mental illness. Psychiatrists will play an important role in this task. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla was addressing the first National Psychiatric Conference of Central India in Bhopal today. 45 prominent speakers from across the country are participating in the two-day conference being held in Bhopal.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that the first happiness of life is considered to be a healthy body. In today’s global era, mental stress is mainly seen among the youth. The main reason for this is heavy anxiety in practical life, unlimited competition, fear of failure and excessive use of mobile and other digital devices. In such an environment, the role of psychiatrists becomes important. He said that the cases of suicide of about 10 lakh people every year in the world are a matter of concern. Shri Shukla said that the solution to all this is contained in the ancient tradition of India. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that many institutions are continuously doing important work in the direction of meditation and yoga. There are possibilities of further expansion of all these.
State government’s efforts in the treatment of mental illness
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that the state government has started services in a special room in every district hospital for the treatment and counselling of mentally ill persons. He said that along with treatment, continuous communication with the mentally ill is also necessary. Patients of phobias, mental illnesses among the youth, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder are emerging in the society. Psychiatrists should show dedication in dealing with all these.
In the program, Director of National Health Mission, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Saloni Sidana said that in the National Health Mission in the state, special importance has been given to the treatment of mental illness. She said that if the environment of a mentally ill person is understood before treating him, then the problem can be diagnosed in a better way. She said that arrangements have been made to provide free consultation on Tele-Manas Helpline 24X7 in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that consultation was given on 3 lakh calls on this helpline. The program was also addressed by Bhopal Gandhi Medical College Dean Dr. Kavita Singh, India Association of Private Psychiatry (IAPP) officials Dr. R.N. Sahu, Dr. Mrigesh Vaishnav. The program was conducted by Dr. Sameeksha Sahu.
Organising a rally
At the beginning of the national conference, a rally was taken out from Gandhi Medical College to Iqbal Maidan to spread awareness about mental illness and to be cautious about it. Psychiatrists and students of Gandhi Medical College participated in the rally.
