The Chief Minister started the campaign by giving pulse polio medicine to children
Pulse polio medicine will be administered to 38 lakh children
Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that awareness about pulse polio is the first step towards prevention. India is one of the polio free countries but to remain polio free, two drops of polio must be used. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the gathering at the launch of the state level pulse polio campaign at Samatva Bhavan in the Chief Minister’s residence. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav administered medicine to children below 5 years of age, twin sisters Arnika and Anaya Rai, Kanishka, Niyati, Arth and Samarth. On this occasion, Minister of State for Public Health and Medical Education Shri Narendra Shivaji Patel, Principal Secretary Public Health Shri Sandeep Yadav, WHO representative and other dignitaries were present.
The target is to give medicine to 38 lakh children
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the 3-day pulse polio campaign will be organized from 8 December to 10 December. The target is to administer medicine to 38 lakh children during this period. He said that the pulse polio campaign is meaningful only when no child is deprived of medicine. Mobile teams will go door-to-door and street-to-street to administer polio medicine in the highest residential areas, brick kilns, crushers, construction sites, nomadic populations and slums and fulfill their target. He appealed to the people to be vigilant parents and make sure to administer free pulse polio medicine to their children up to 5 years of age.
Two drops every time, victory over polio continues
This campaign is being run in 16 districts of the state with the spirit of two drops every time, maintaining victory over polio. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that on behalf of the people of the state, I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Mr. Modi and Union Health Minister Mr. J.P. Nadda for the continuous world-class development in health facilities.
Polio is incurable, prevention is necessary
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that polio is an incurable disease, which is the main reason for disability in children. To ensure “double protection” to children, it is necessary to administer two drops of life every time. Pulse polio campaign was started in the year 1995, whose aim is to keep India polio free forever. But positive cases of polio have been reported in some bordering countries. In view of this, we have to fight against polio seriously. We have identified more sensitive areas and have systematically run the pulse polio campaign. He said that additional phases of the campaign have been organized in Bhind, Bhopal, Chhindwara, Datia, Gwalior, Indore, Katni, Khargone, Mandsaur, Narsinghpur, Neemuch, Niwari, Satna, Sheopur, Tikamgarh and Vidisha.
