Team India Pushes Back on BCCI’s New Rules: Rohit Sharma to Take a Stand

BCCI’s New Rules : The BCCI has introduced a new set of rules for Team India in an effort to address recent underwhelming performances. One of these rules limits players from having their families with them for the entire duration of a tour. This decision follows India’s disappointing loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, prompting the BCCI to enforce stricter guidelines to boost the team’s performance. The new rules span 10 points, including the restriction on family accompaniment. However, not all players are on board, and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma plans to bring their concerns to the table.

Rohit is set to discuss the family-related restrictions with BCCI Secretary Devjeet Sakhia soon. This revelation came during the announcement of the squad for the Champions Trophy. At a press briefing for the team announcement, both Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and Rohit Sharma were present. Before the conference, Rohit shared his thoughts, saying, “I’ll need to stay back for another hour. After this press meet, we’ll discuss the family rules. The players have been reaching out to me nonstop about this.”

He further stated, “Let the BCCI issue an official statement through their platform. Once that happens, we can have a clearer discussion.”Rohit also addressed his packed schedule, confirming his participation in Mumbai’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match. Reflecting on the grueling cricket calendar, he remarked, “Over the past 6-7 years, we’ve hardly had 45 days at home during the season. After the IPL ends, there’s some downtime, but after that, it’s nonstop cricket.” The growing concerns highlight the players’ desire for a more balanced approach, especially when it comes to time spent with their families amidst a demanding schedule.
