Tap water reaches every home in Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar of Alirajpur
Bhopal. Pure tap water is reaching every home in Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar (Bhabhra), the birthplace of great revolutionary martyr Chandrashekhar Azad in Alirajpur district. The Indore unit of Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company, an undertaking of the Urban Development and Housing Department, has completed the water supply project in Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar with the support of Asian Development Bank. More than 1520 houses of the city have been connected with tap connections. A 44 kilometer long pipeline has been laid to connect every house to the water supply network. An overhead tank of 150 kilolitres has been constructed for storing water. In this project, water is being taken from Hathani Dam, a water purification plant of 1.6 MLD capacity has also been installed to purify the water.
The cost of this project with operation and maintenance for ten years is about Rs 24 crore, more than 8 thousand population is getting benefit from this. Before the water supply project, the residents of Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar used to depend on boring for water, but now they are getting plenty of water on time. Banam Singh, a resident of Ward No. 5 of Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar, says that water is being available at home, earlier there was a shortage of water but now water comes on time. Kamlesh Singh says that the quality of water coming from the tap is good, now all the water related problems have been resolved. There is also no risk of water-borne diseases in Azad Nagar. Sapna Singh says that earlier one had to depend on external sources for water, but now clean and sufficient water is coming to the house through tap connection. Water is coming with proper pressure. This project of the tribal area has proved to be a boon for the citizens of Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar.
