“Surrender,” Urged His Mother, but ₹50 Lakh Bounty Naxalite Damodar Was Killed in Encounter

Bijapur: Top Naxal Leader Damodar Killed in Encounter Along with 18 Others Bijapur Telangana cadre Naxal leader Damodar, carrying a bounty of ₹50 lakh, was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Marudbaka forest near Pujari Kanker in Bijapur district on Thursday. Damodar was a prominent member of the Telangana State Committee of the Naxal organization. A Mother’s Emotional Plea Ignored A month before his death, a video of Damodar’s mother pleading with him to surrender went viral on social media. Speaking in Telugu, she urged her son to return to the mainstream, assuring him that the police and government would not harm him. Unfortunately, Damodar did not heed her heartfelt appeal. Exactly a month later, he was killed in a joint operation by security forces in the Sukma, Dantewada, and Bijapur districts. Encounter Leaves 18 Naxalites Dead Security forces recovered the bodies of 12 Naxalites from the encounter site. Later, the Naxalites confirmed that 18 of their members, including Damodar, had been killed. They managed to retrieve six of the bodies. Among the identified deceased, 10 Naxalites carried bounties totaling ₹1.09 crore, including Damodar.

Details of the Deceased Bijapur Superintendent of Police Dr. Jitendra Kumar Yadav shared that 12 bodies, including five women, were recovered from the site. Ten of these individuals, carrying a combined reward of ₹59 lakh, were identified. The remaining two are still being identified. Three CYPC members, One ACMM member, Four Area Committee Platoon members, One LOS Party cadre
Bounty Details. Some of the identified Naxalites and their bounties include: ₹8 lakh bounty: Tamo Hungi, Narasimha Rao Mangadu, Madvi Deve, ₹5 lakh bounty: Madvi Joga, Nuppo Somadi, Irpa Seete, Pati Laxman, Dodi Vasu, Uika Aitu
₹2 lakh bounty: Pottam Mangali. Efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining two individuals. This encounter marks a significant blow to Naxal activities in the region, dealing a setback to their organizational structure.
