Raipur. The Central GST team on Monday raided a packaging factory located in Boriyakala and seized stock worth Rs 2.66 crore. On searching the factory owner’s house, Rs 2.88 crore cash was also found. Officers had received input that illegal factories of tobacco and gutkha were running at many places in Raipur. Information about tax fraud worth crores was available.
Gutkha packaging work is also being done at many places in the city. After getting concrete information from the Central GST officers, the department team raided M/s Om Roto Printers Boriyakala located on Dhamtari Road. When seen from outside it looks like a normal printing press. But here in the factory, packaging was being made for tobacco and pan masala brands. The officials have seized raw material of film, foil, strips and plastic. Here the packaging was being manufactured and supplied in a completely secret manner. Even the people around were not aware of this. Gutkha packaging wrappers were being printed and sent to other states also.
