Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that Dindori will have a special contribution in the establishment of Herbal Park in Vice President’s House. In view of the biodiversity and availability of medicinal plants in Dindori, research work on the treatment of other diseases including sickle cell anemia should be increased rapidly. So that Dindori’s name becomes famous in the country and abroad. Coordinated efforts are required at all levels for the prevention and awareness of sickle cell anemia. It has to be made a social movement with the coordinated efforts of researchers-social workers-doctors. Under the leadership of Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh will be included among the leading states of the country by making continuous progress in the social, economic and cultural fields. Vice President Shri Dhankhar was addressing the state level program World Sickle Cell Day-2024 program in Dindori. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla welcomed the guests and gave information about the activities conducted in the state for the elimination of sickle cell anemia.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp at Government Chandravijay Mahavidyalaya, Dindori. Governor Patel, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, Panchayat and Rural and Labor Department Minister Prahlad Patel, MP Faggan Singh Kulaste and Vice President Dhankhar’s wife Sudesh Dhankhar were present in the program. Tribal artists welcomed the Vice President by performing traditional dance. Vice President Mr. Dhankhar gave the message of environmental protection by planting saplings at the venue. He visited the exhibition organized by Women and Child Development, Panchayat and Rural Development, Public Health and Family Welfare, AYUSH and other departments. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav welcomed Vice President Mr. Dhankhar by presenting a turban and Mrs. Dhankhar a shawl and coconut as per the rich tradition of tribal culture. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also presented a Gondi painting to the Vice President. Governor Mr. Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav were welcomed by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Shukla. A short film focusing on the ongoing efforts in the state to control sickle cell anemia was also screened in the program. Vice President Mr. Dhankhar said that Prime Minister Mr. Modi made an announcement to this effect from Shahdol district in July 2023 and launched the National Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission-2047. The yagya of sickle cell elimination has begun. We all have to contribute to it. Making necessary improvements in the Ayushman Bharat scheme for the elimination of genetic diseases like sickle cell anemia shows the farsightedness of the government. It is necessary to adopt a holistic approach for the elimination of this disease. The state government is leading in the country in this direction. Dindori and surrounding districts have a treasure of biodiversity and medicinal plants. Vice President Mr. Dhankhar said that there are special provisions for tribes in the Indian Constitution. Minerals and other national mineral heritage are available in abundance in tribal areas. Prime Minister Mr. Modi has taken special initiatives for the development of tribal areas.

The decision to hold the first meeting of the Council of Ministers in Jabalpur shows his commitment to tribal development and the decision taken regarding the use of loudspeakers is a symbol of his sensitivity and practicality. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, Madhya Pradesh will continue to fascinate everyone with the pace of its development.
Coordinated efforts by the Central and State Governments continue for the elimination of sickle cell anemia
Governor Shri Patel said that the tribal population in Madhya Pradesh is 1 crore 90 lakh. So far, more than 55 lakh people have been examined, out of which 1 lakh 20 thousand 935 people are carriers of the disease, that is, sickle cell anemia is in its initial stage while the number of patients of this disease is more than 18 thousand. This is a genetic disease, the coming generation will also be affected by it. Prime Minister Shri Modi has made a provision of Rs 15 thousand crore for the prevention and other measures of the disease in the Central Budget. Coordinated efforts are being made by the Central and State Governments for the elimination of sickle cell anemia. Governor Shri Patel has called for special campaigns at the tribal community level to create awareness about sickle cell anemia.
