Policemen came to the counting center on bikes without helmets, challan issued

For the counting of Lok Sabha elections 2024, officers/employees were put on duty from 5 am for traffic management at Engineering College Sezabhaar. Two employees from the traffic police station, a head constable and a constable, reached the duty spot on their two-wheelers without helmets.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurjeet Singh, already present at the Engineering College Chowk, saw them and stopped both of them and inquired the reason for not wearing helmets. On not getting a satisfactory answer, action was taken against both of them under the provisions of Section 129/194 (D) of the Motor Vehicles Act for driving a two-wheeler without a helmet and each was fined Rs 1000. There is a provision of a fine of Rs 500 under Section 129/194 (D) of the Motor Vehicles Act for citizens driving two-wheelers without helmets.
