Om Birla has been elected Speaker of Lok Sabha by voice vote. After Om Birla was elected Speaker, Leader of the House Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi took him to the Speaker’s seat. On Om Birla reaching the seat, Protem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab said that this is your chair.
Home Minister Amit Shah, Hindustani Awam Morcha chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, Jadhav Prataprao Ganpat Rao, Chirag Paswan, HD Kumaraswamy, K Rammohan Naidu, IK Subba, Anupriya Patel proposed Om Birla’s name for the post of Speaker. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nitin Gadkari, Sunil Tatkare, Jayant Vasumatari, Laghukrishna Devrai, Phanibhushan Choudhary, Shri Kishan Pal proposed Om Birla’s name for the post of Speaker.
