No eligible voter should be deprived of voting: State Election Commissioner: Ajay Singh
Raipur. State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh held a review meeting of the Collector and District Election Officers through video conferencing regarding the preparations for the local body elections. He reviewed all the necessary preparations to conduct the election process smoothly and fairly. Various important points were discussed in detail in the meeting so that all the election related processes can be completed on time and correctly.
State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh directed the District Election Officers to make the electoral roll completely correct. Gave instructions to remove any kind of error in the list so that the name of every eligible voter is included in the list and they can ensure their right to vote. He said that the name of all voters who have completed 18 years of age as on 1 October 2024 must be included in the list.
Regarding the process of adding name in the voter list, Mr. Singh said that now after the amendment in the provision by the government, it can be done by applying in the prescribed format and by the registration officer on self-motivation. He asked all the District Election Officers to add the names of all eligible voters as on October 1.
State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh said regarding the appointment of Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer that ensure the appointment of qualified and trained personnel so that all the processes can be done properly during the elections. These officers have an important contribution in the election process, so he instructed to maintain complete transparency and fairness in their appointment.
He took information from the collectors of all the districts about the arrangement and training of election personnel and emphasized on proper arrangement and training of all the personnel involved in the election. He said that by training the election personnel, they will be able to face the challenges during the elections. He instructed the officers to organize timely and high-level training programs so that there is no disturbance of any kind on the day of election. He asked to coordinate with the nearby district for proper arrangement of employees.
State Election Commissioner Shri Singh said regarding the arrangement of election material that all the necessary material should be available on time. Apart from this, he also asked to pay attention to the quality of these materials so that there is no shortage in the electoral process.
Budget allocation and requirements were also discussed in the review meeting. The State Election Commissioner said that it is necessary to have adequate budget to run the election process smoothly. He instructed the officials to fulfill all the budget provisions and other requirements required in the election. He asked to establish a control room and complaint cell at the district level for all the proceedings related to the election to help the common citizens.
On this occasion, Secretary of the State Election Commission Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Collector and District Election Officer of all the districts, Deputy District Election Officer, Deputy Secretary Dr. Neha Kapoor and Shri Alok Srivastava and other officials were present.
