MP: Guest Teachers to Be Replaced as Prime Minister’s College of Excellence Has Enough Staff

Bhopal: There is a surplus of professors in most of the Prime Minister Colleges of Excellence across the state, and now plans are being made to remove the guest lecturers who are already working there. These guest lecturers will be reassigned to other colleges. The Higher Education Department has issued guidelines for this transition. In this academic session, 52 colleges across the state were designated as Prime Minister Colleges of Excellence. These colleges are being equipped with all necessary facilities to provide a high-quality educational environment. As part of this initiative, professors were recruited from other general colleges to fill the vacancies in these institutions. Due to this recruitment, the number of teachers in these colleges is now sufficient, leaving no work for the 500 guest lecturers who have been teaching there for the last few years. Many of these guest lecturers have been working in colleges located 200-300 kilometers away from their hometowns.
Between January 20 and 25, these guest lecturers will be required to choose a college of their interest. They will be assigned new colleges by January 28 and are expected to take charge by January 31 and confirm their presence on the portal. Protests from Other Guest Lecturers Soon after the announcement of this system, protests broke out. Guest lecturers from general and autonomous colleges have also started demanding an opportunity to participate in this process. They argue that all guest lecturers are in similar situations, and therefore, everyone should be given an equal opportunity. There are currently 4,500 guest lecturers across the state. Action for Non-Participants Professors, Associate Professors, and Assistant Professors have been appointed in the Prime Minister Colleges of Excellence and autonomous colleges after fresh applications and interviews. Regular professors already teaching in these colleges who did not participate in this process will also be removed. Only those who have completed the prescribed departmental procedure will be allowed to teach in these colleges.
