The Indian Meteorological Department has released a new update regarding the monsoon. According to the department, the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh by June 15. After this, there will be heavy rains in these states. The IMD said that conditions are favorable for the advance of monsoon over the central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 2-3 days. After this, there will be heavy rains in these states.
The IMD said that Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) during June 2-4, 2024. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during June 3 to 6.
