The registered construction women workers of the state are getting the benefit of this scheme. Aashiyana Begum, a resident of Raipur, has got the benefit of this scheme. Her husband, Naushad, worked as an auto driver. He came to know about the Minimata Mahtari Jatan Yojana while dropping an employee from the Labor Resource Center in his block. This time the Naushad couple determined to get the right help to keep their family safe and healthy. Working as an informal construction worker, women like me who work at construction sites often work during their pregnancy and resume work immediately after delivery as it is essential to earn and support their family. As per the eligibility criteria, the couple applied for the Minimata Mahtari Jatan Yojana. They did not get immediate success. Their application was rejected due to errors and insufficient documentation. However, officials at the Labour Resource Centre helped them deal with the rejections with clear information and instructions. Finally, the couple filled an application form that was approved.
As Ashiana’s pregnancy progressed, doctors told her that there were complications in her pregnancy. She needed not only a caesarean procedure but also blood obtained from blood donation. At this moment of severe medical emergency, the safety net provided by the Minimata Mahtari Jatan Yojana proved to be a true lifesaver. All the necessary expenses for the delivery, including the crucial blood transfusion, were covered by the maternity assistance they received.
