Mayor Meenal Chabe flagged off e-rickshaw teams for the lymphatic filariasis eradication campaign

Raipur – Today, the newly elected Mayor of Municipal Corporation Raipur, Smt. Meenal Chabey, flagged off 5 e-rickshaw teams of the Health Department in the premises of Mahatma Gandhi Sadan, Municipal Corporation Headquarters, for the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program for the elimination of lymphatic filariasis in Raipur district from 27 February to 13 March 2025 for mass drug intake and National Creamy Liberation Day. During this, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra and District Malaria Officer Dr. Vimal Kishore Rai along with City Program Manager Swatantra Rahangdale, Ashok Singh, Anurag Gupta, Malaria Department Specialist Kumar Singh, Mithlesh Singh of PCI were present.

Mayor Smt. Meenal Chabey flagged off five e-rickshaw vehicles of the Health Department for mass drug intake in Hirapur Ramnagar, Gogaon, Bhanpuri area. Under the National Filaria Eradication Program, age-wise drug intake is to be done as per the mass drug intake and National Creamy Liberation Day activity. Health department officials informed that for the quality implementation of mass drug administration activity, medicine is to be administered at Anganwadi, school and educational institutions by setting up booths from 27 February to 2 March, medicine is to be administered at community level by visiting door to door from 3 March to 10 March, medicine is to be administered to the citizens for the missed doses under mop-up round from 11 to 13 March, medicine is to be administered by setting up booths near OPD in medical college, district hospital, community health centre, primary health centre, urban health centre and other private hospitals from 27 February to 13 March under MDA Corner activity. It was informed that the only way to identify filariasis early is blood test. Blood sample is taken for blood test between 8 pm to 12 pm. At that time, the density of microfilariae, larvae of creamies, is high in peripheral blood. Health department officials informed about the symptoms and treatment and informed that it is being run as a campaign on the instructions of the government for the elimination of lymphatic filariasis.
