Many important decisions were taken in the Cabinet meeting held here today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai – In the meeting of the Council of Ministers, it was decided in the interest of the youth preparing for the examination that the candidates who are local residents of Chhattisgarh and appear in the examination or interview in the examinations conducted by Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission, Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board and Special Junior Staff Selection Board, Surguja / Bastar / Bilaspur, the amount of examination fee paid by them will be refunded. This will increase the percentage of attendance of serious candidates in the examination, while non-serious candidates and ineligible candidates will not fill the examination form and due to them the financial loss to the state government will also be reduced. Taking a big decision in the interest of the small traders of the state in the cabinet meeting, the amendment contained in the draft of Chhattisgarh Outstanding Tax, Interest and Penalty Settlement (Amendment) Ordinance-2025 was approved. According to which the state government will encourage small traders and waive VAT liabilities up to Rs 25 thousand in pending cases older than 10 years. This will benefit more than 40 thousand traders and reduce more than 62 thousand litigation cases. In the cabinet meeting, NIFT campus was approved in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The new campus of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will be established in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. According to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the total possible cost of this project will be around Rs 271.18 crore. This includes expenditure of Rs 21.18 crore for purchasing land, Rs 200 crore for building construction and Rs 50 crore for machinery, furniture etc.
The establishment of this institute will provide new opportunities to the youth of the state in the field of fashion education and will also provide technically trained human resources to the fashion industry. National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a premier institute of fashion education in India, established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT has 17 campuses across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. This institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fashion design, management and technology. The institute specializes in areas such as fashion design, textile design, fashion management and fashion technology. It collaborates with the fashion industry to provide practical experience and placement opportunities to students. The Council of Ministers has given consent to the allotment of government land at concessional lease rates for bio-CNG plants being set up for processing of organic waste cum agricultural waste in the urban bodies of the state and authorized the Urban Administration Department and the concerned Municipal Corporations for further action. With the objective of promoting cooperation in the state, the Council of Ministers has decided to purchase the sugar required for distribution of sugar under the Public Distribution System from the cooperative sugar factories of the state from April 2025 to March 2026. For this, the purchase price of sugar has been fixed at Rs 37,000 per tonne (ex-factory, GST extra). With the objective of promoting local employment and micro-small industries, the Council of Ministers has given in-principle approval to Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) to set up a Heavy Earth Moving Equipment Manufacturing Plant in the state. For this, it has been decided to allot 100 acres of land at a token rate.
