Lok Sabha elections: 36.73% voting in the country till 1 pm

In the fifth phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections 2024, voting is taking place today i.e. on May 20 on 49 seats in eight states and union territories. In this phase, voting is taking place on 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Maharashtra, seven in West Bengal, five in Odisha, five in Bihar, three in Jharkhand, one in Jammu and Kashmir and one in Ladakh.

The electoral reputation of many big names is at stake in the fifth phase. These include stalwarts like Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Rahul Gandhi, Chirag Paswan, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Rohini Acharya, Omar Abdullah and Piyush Goyal. With the fifth phase, elections will be completed on a total of 428 seats.
