Lawyer Alleges False Asset Declaration by BJP Candidate: Party Denies Accusations

A lawyer from Delhi has accused Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a BJP candidate and Union minister from Thiruvananthapuram, of giving false information about his assets in his nomination papers. The lawyer, Avani Bansal, has asked for Chandrasekhar’s nomination to be rejected. This is not the first time such accusations have been made against Chandrasekhar; similar complaints were made when he ran for the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka in 2018. However, BJP sources have dismissed these allegations as politically motivated and say they have been previously rejected by the Election Commission and the Delhi High Court.
